Writing while on a bumpy bus.. Maybe bumpy road?
OMG! You won't believe the crazy stuff that happened to me! Grab your popcorn because this is going to be an epic tale of triumph, defeat, and some serious biscuit business! 🍿🍪
I'm currently in Mudumalai forest, and guess what? I got a job as a greeter at the Tiger Conservation Centre! 👏 Can you believe it? I'm the official welcome committee! My tail is wagging like crazy with excitement! The regular greeter went on vacation, and I swooped in at just the right time to fill in. It's like destiny, right? I needed a job, and they needed a greeter. Perfect match! 👌
As part of my job, I go on safari adventures. Doesn’t feel anything like a job though! Twice a day, I get to hop on a jeep and venture deep into the forest with the forest ranger. It's like a real-life jungle book! 📕 But there's a catch—I'm not allowed to leave the bus and talk to the animals in the wild. Boo! 🚍
On one of these safaris, guess what I saw? Brace yourself...a black panther and a tiger! 🐅They were walking together like best buddies. The panther looked just like my friend Chotu, a small orange cat back home. Eeww! A panther is nothing but a big cat, I suppose.
I also spotted a gorgeous peacock, twisting away in the sunlight, 🦚 looking all pretty and proud. Then, the craziest thing happened. A sneaky Malabar squirrel snatched my biscuit. Can you imagine? 🐿️ That biscuit thief gave me a run for my money! Alas, I didn’t manage to get it back.
But not to worry, the forest ranger was kind enough to give me his last biscuit. 🍪 It was a total lifesaver...until a boy from the front row snatched it right from my mouth! The nerve! 😡
And that's when things took an unexpected turn. The boy and I got into a fight, right there on the safari bus! 🚌 I know, I know, fighting is not my style, but no one steals my biscuits! We rolled out of the jeep like a couple of tumbleweeds, and chaos ensued. It was like a scene from a crazy action movie! 👊🏻
We rolled out of the bus just as we came back to the reception area and the ranger threw water on us to stop the fight. 💦 The boy challenged me to a basketball match! Can you believe it? Me, the underdog, against him! My dribbling skills were on point from all the practice back home. After all, the park which I call my home in Bangalore has a basketball court. 🏀
Now it was time to put my skills to the test. The crowd gathered around, cheering and jeering. 📣😀 It felt like being in a cricket stadium, minus the woowoozellas! The score was neck and neck, and for the final throw, I decided to blindfold myself for a little extra pizzazz. 🍕 I was feeling confident! Extra confident.
Here’s the kicker. Whoops. The final shot and the ball missed the hoop, and the crowd went silent. You could hear a pin drop. I was so embarrassed and wished the ground would swallow me whole. 😖 But guess what? The boy walked up to me and put his hand out to shake mine. Good game, he said. Then, he did the most incredible thing. He shared his biscuit packet with me. 🍪 So, kind of him. He even apologized for the fighting. We made peace. What a twist! 😮
Looking back, I realized that losing a game doesn't define me. 😌 I am not a loser.
We all have ups and downs, and it's how we handle them that matters. I learned an important lesson about humility and not to celebrate victory before it's won. Lesson learned, Diary!
That's it for now. I'm off to find out if I still have my job as a greeter. Wish me luck and stay tuned for more epic adventures!
Paws up,
Koko 🐾
